Talk: "Building Bridges and Disseminating Behavioral Thinking"
Behavior analysis could benefit from a cohesive approach to instilling, expecting, and assuring (to a degree) that our core tenets and assumptions are taught to mastery and disseminated with integrity. Morris (1985) stated that “If a scientific community does not arrange for contingencies that assure its survival, then so much the worse for that community, and for the rest of the culture at large” (p. 108). This discussion will present the perspective that our current infrastructure lacks the coordination to ensure this survival and emphasize the need for further collaboration within the field of behavior analysis and fields adjacent to it if behavior analysis is to continue to prosper in the ways our foremothers and forefathers envisioned. Possible solutions will be shared to encourage further collaboration and dissemination of behavior analysis in ways that are measurable and verifiable, but also left to an open discussion among attendees of any kind.
